Lichterfest. Schloss Benrath is a baroque pleasure palace, and as such for Cologners a bit suspect.

Anyway, we went to the Lichterfest and had quite a good time. Basically the main axis of the park turns into a huge picnic. Hundreds of picnic tables with candles, food and drink. The Düsseldorf symphony plays classical music. The fountains in the Spiegelsee, the central element of the parks main axis, are illuminated. Normally there are fireworks as well, but not this year, because of the drought the danger of setting the park on fire was judged to high.
